Chapter 8

Geltha clutched her apron together into a sack infront of her, putting apples into her skirt. Robert chucked an apple at the back of her head, and she deftly side stepped and continued picking apples. In her side step, the apple went careening into her brother, Brendon. He yelped, and rubbed his shoulder. He glared at Robert, then bent, picked up the apple, and chucked it at his head.

Geltha grinned as Robert fell onto his butt, rubbing his temple. She looked at her collection of apples, and decided it was plenty to make a few apple pastries and cider for the evening, and turned to walk back to the house. The boys threw a few more apples at each other. Geltha reached out to open the door, but it opened without her touching it.

A man stood there in shadow. "Geltha," he said shortly. He looked at the boys. "Robert. Brendon."

"Who are you?" she asked, guarded, taking a sharp step back.

"You best be coming with me," the man said, ignoring her question. Robert shouldered in around his half sister, and Brendon took up her other side.

"You are being..... ah, apprenticed, if you will," the man said. "This is a very important apprenticeship. You cannot refuse it."

"Oh, truly?" Geltha said, daring the man.

"Yes, truly," he answered. "Now, you can come with me on your own, or..." Geltha lashed out a foot at the man's stomach, dropping her apples. Damn. They'd be bruised for sure. He caught her foot easily and spun her in the air, so she was plucked right off her feet. She landed flat on her face, and as the boys advanced, he easily pushed both off their feet and looked down at them. Geltha spit grass, and rolled over to look up at him.

"Just what sort of apprenticeship is this?" she snapped.

"A very important apprenticeship," he repeated. He then pulled her to her feet. "Will you come willingly, or not?" She debated kicking him again, but then realized it would be highly undignified to go wherever the man wanted her to go slung like a bag of flour over a saddle. And she would surely lose if she tried to fight him.

She nodded curtly, fury flashing in her eyes. The man grinned without it reaching his eyes, and led Geltha into the brush, beckoning the boys to follow. They did. There were four horses in the brush, waiting.

They mounted, and rode off through the trees, wherever the man was leading them.

Chapter 7

Bella sat, legs crossed, across from her aunt Elizabeth (who was, by all rights, only older than Bella by a few days.) playing a game of rune sticks.

Elizabeth cursed under her breath as the runesticks turned against her, and she pushed a part of her cookies towards Bella. Bella flinched, and stared for a long moment.

A huge jolt had gone through her body as Elizabeth grew frustrated. The frustration, irritation, and mild amusement hit her like a brick. She blinked.

"Are you alright, Bell?" Elizabeth asked, looking at her with a frown. Bella barely had time to nod before a knock sounded on the door. Elizabeth pursed her lips, and stood, brushing dirt from her skirts. She crossed to the door and pushed open the piece of wood that served as a door. Outside stood a woman a full head shorter than she was.

She had blonde hair cut jaggedly, as though with a hunting knife. Her green eyes glowed like a cat's.

"Can I help you?" Elizabeth asked. The woman pushed by and crossed her arms, looking around the room. Her eyes looked back and forth between Elizabeth and Bella for a moment.

"You are to come with me," she said, then turned to walk out the door.

"Excuse me?" Bella asked, standing up slowly.

"I'm Angela," she said as though it was obvious. "Come with me."

"Um, I don't know you," Elizabeth said. "Do you, Bella?" Bella shook her head.

"Just come with me before I use force," Angela said with exasperation.

"Uh, yeah, I don't think so..." Bella said, reaching into a bag she wore around her waste over her skirt, and slowly removed a dagger.

With a great big sigh, Angela raised her hand, fingers extended, and uttered some words under her breath. Energy rushed up through the earth, and knocked them off their feet. The force of the magic knocked them out and the world collapsed to darkness.

"Great," Angela uttered under her breath. "Now I get to carry a whole bunch of dead weight."

Chapter 6:

Alexander woke in a darkened room, side by side with all his siblings. The room was unfamiliar, and the walls were made of stone; there was a dingy iron gate as one of the walls and beyond it he could see a dim corridor lit with sparse torches. A silhouette was outlined by the torches. The man tilted his head and light fell across his face.

He was no older than twenty, and well muscled. Around his bare upper arms were golden arm bands with animals carved into them, and around his neck was a golden torque carved in the shape of a hawk.

"Fur'es'tos?" a voice came from down the hall. "Have they awoken?" Another man appeared, probably the same age as the first man. His eyes cast around the cell, and saw Alexander was awake.

"Only the one," the first man-- Fur'es'tos-- responded. "The eldest. Perhaps you didn't do as good a job at knocking the others lightly over the head as I?" The second man scoffed.

"May I inquire as to who you are, and why you have taken us?" Alexander said, his voice carrying easily to the two men. They blinked, seeming to realize for the first time he was indeed conscious and could hear every word they said.

"Oh, yeah," Fur'es'tos said. He looked stupidly at the other man. "He'd probably want to know that."

"I suppose," said the other man. Both of them looked as though they had assumed Alexander would just KNOW. Obviously, he didn't. "My name is Karrow. This is Fur'es'tos." When he didn't elaborate, Alexander prompted him again.

"And why am I here? And just where is 'here'?"

"You're here because..." Karrow just stared at him for a long moment. "You honestly don't know?"

"I have a sneaking suspicion," he said dryly, remembering the book he had been reading before. "Something to do with my mother?"

"Well, sort of," Fur'es'tos said uncomfortably. He seemed to register that Alexander was in a cage. "Oh, would you liked to come out of there to speak? Out of the cellar, perhaps? There's a room upstairs, and I am sure we have tea somewhere."

"Cellar?" Alexander asked stupidly.

"Yes, this is.... an underground corridor. It's called a cellar. Would you like to come above ground?" he explained. Alexander looked worriedly at his siblings.

"They shall be fine," Karrow said. "No worries. We just wanted to make sure you would listen."

"Very well then," Alexander said. He most certainly did not entirely believe that, but he felt relatively confident he could overcome one of them and run for help before the second one caught up.

"Please don't run until you let us explain everything," Fur'es'tos said, as though reading his mind. The door was unlocked and slid to the side with a creak. Karrow offered his hand to help the younger boy up, but Alexander ignored it and stood, brushing himself off and walking out of the cell with as much dignity as he could muster.

They walked down the corridor and up stone carved stairs into the upstairs. For the first time in Alexander's life, he was finally going to get some straight answers.

Chapter 5: Discovery

Alex woke to sun streaming through his window. When had he fallen asleep? He couldn't remember. He remembered reading the book, and then nothing else. He shook his head. A bird lighted on his window sill, and stared at him with keen eyes.

She flew in and landed on the bed, and Alexander reached out an arm for his falcon. Her name was Eld, and she had beautiful wings- black primaries, blackened silver down.

She was Alexander's, and he had caught her when she was just a little fledgling. She only answered his call, and was extremely loyal.

Alex slid out of bed, and Eld flew to the door. There was a chill -- they had no window panes, and it was snowing -- so he grabbed his dark red cloak and strode to the kitchen, bird flying to his shoulder.

He came into the kitchen to see everyone already seated at the rough table.

"What have I told you about letting that falcon inside?" his mother chided. "She should be out hunting."

"She seems to have already hunted," Alex said. "She flew in my window when I woke up."

"Alright. Don't feed her any food, though," she said. Alex nodded and took his seat.

His brothers and sister were in their cloaks as well. Samuel looked up and smiled at him some, then returned to his food. Red hair swept into his eyes.

"We need help, guys," Danielle said around a mouthful of food. "We don't know what's going on. All we know is Mother told us we were chosen by the gods, and then some guy came to us saying we needed a copy of the Holy Book of Arapania. And we were in it. So now we need to figure out just what to do."

"Yes, we do," Alexander said mildly. "but how can we truly reach it? Most of the world doesn't know we are alive. Mother kept us hidden when we were born, because her gift could have put us in danger. So no one knows we are alive, we have no connections, we merely have an old book and a psychic mother. What could we possibly do?" his voice was dripping with sarcasm. "And don't forget, some of our powers have already come out. We can all already control the weather. And we heal, and are fast. Anyone over 13 has already gotten their powers. Samuel's should be coming soon."

"Alex, I'm serious," Danielle said crossly. "We need some kind of contact."

"I know we do," he said simply. "But that's not what we need to do first. FIRST, we need to read further into the book. Then we need to train some. THEN we go search. It would be foolish to run into a fight you aren't prepared for."

"Alright. Then read the book," she said.

"I will," he said calmly. "after I finish eating." He finished his bread and apple, and then picked up the book. He started from the beginning.

The Holy Book Of the Arapanians.

Long ago, there was a race of magyk peoples. These were the Arapanians amongst an island that is now called the United Kingdom. They used
the name Arapania for their island however. They were in great
connection to the Gods and Goddesses. One girl in particular had a
gift for their connection. And this is the book of what she has
deemed.

“My name is Annaley Rosalie. I have heard the voice of the Gods and Goddesses. And they wish thee to know their names.”

Aro is the Sky God, Lord of Sky and Down from thyself.

Wiero is the Diamond Lord, God of West and Water.

Xino is the Blood King, Caller of Fire and the South.

Sylana is the Golden Goddess, Queen of Spirit and thy Self.

Earna is the Emerald Lady, Goddess of Earth and East.

Nyxam is the Onyx Princess, Lady of Shadow and North.

And Diana is the Opal Queen, Princess of Dream and Up.

The girl Came into us to be here almost 20 years ago to the date. She came bearing powers of Prophecy. She was within the 15th
generation, 450 years into the tribe of the Arapanians.

Alex was shocked to see his mother's name in the book. Sure, she was powerful. But she was that powerful? It was old -- 20 years -- but it had looked older. How could it be that young? His mother was 40 summers old.

He closed the book softly.

What he didn't see, was a man sneaking up behind him with a log. The man struck him over the head, and Alexander's world tumbled into darkness.

Chapter 4: 30 years later

Alexander Cross looked over his shoulder through the spiraling snow flakes. Still no one was following him. Good. His
boots crunched on the crystals on the ground. The branches creaked
over head with their new bounty of ice, every now and then one would
break and crash to the ground. That was the only sound that broke the
silence of the night that night.

Eventually a light came into view up ahead. Finally... he ran the last quarter mile to his home. The hood to his cloak flew off, and his auburn tinted brown
hair smacked him in the face as he ran, getting in his blue eyes. He
shook it off though as the little shack like house came into full
view.

A small 10 year old girl clad in a deep green cloak, with a golden broach inset with an emerald tying it under the name of her neck was standing by the
entrance of the door. Her black hair caught snow and deep, deep blue
eyes stared at him under the torch. Daniel tried not to show she was
smiling inside, but the Cross boy saw the telltale signs of the smile
under her eyes.

She pushed open the door of the shack to reveal the 7 people inside. They all halted, and looked up. Alexander stepped inside of the shack and placed the book
carefully on the makeshift table. A boy in a black cloak and a
twinkle in his eyes stood and patted Alexander on the back. The boy
was rather muscular... especially considering he was hardly 15
winters old. Another boy in a deep blue cloak grinned.

Alexander looked at his family with a triumphant smile. Daniel silently sat by the table, with a little smile playing at her lips. She was the youngest, but
you would hardly guess it by how in control she always was. Then
there was James, too... only 11, and always wore a blue cloak. He was
happy to sit and grin. Henry was 15, always wearing a black cloak and
very strong. He was only a year younger than Alexander himself. Smith
was 14, and wore a shimmering dark gray cloak. Samule was 13, and
wore a deep purple cloak. Jack was wearing a white cloak, and aged
12. Each of them was a year apart, so evenly spaced.... Alexander
shook his head some to clear it.

“What's so special about this book?” his mother demanded. “That my baby would have to go risk his life for it? I can say everything in it you need to know!”

“We need to know what is happening,” his father sighed. He was very tired of explaining this to the irate woman, but she wouldn't be ignored.

“WHY?” she demanded. “Why can we not just ignore this?”

“Because if our kids are these people, then they need to know,” he snapped. His wife pouted, but he simply turned to look at Alexander.

“What does it say, boy?” he asked rather excitedly.

“I do not know I never opened it. I was too busy running,” Alexander sighed, looking at his father with irritation.

“Well, open it!” he said excitedly. Alexander obliged, and a plume of dust rose from the cover as he opened the ancient book to the first page. His eyes
greedily took in the neat handwriting. His shoulders fell, and his
face slid into a deep frown. His brows knitted together. “What?”
his father demanded.

“It's true,” he whispered hoarsely. “We are what they claimed. It is true.”

Chapter 3: Into The Woods

Annaley skipped along with a smile spread across her face. Her basket was in her hand, filled with apples. The sky was clear overhead, and Apple trees grew all around her. The peaceful thrum of the world wrapped around her orchard, and she slowed. Up on a branch just out of her reach, was a perfect, ripe, round, red apple. She reached up but found that she couldn't reach the apple. She jumped and strained and still, the apple just stayed out of her reach. She put down her basket, crossed her arms, and glared at the fruit.

"Would you like some help?" a voice said. She wheeled around, and looking at her was a boy just a tad older than she was, maybe 8 or 9 winters old. He had about 4 inches on her, and could probably just reach the apple. He grinned at her, his dark hair falling in his face.

"Yes, please," she said, stepping out of the way. He reached up, grabbed the apple and gave it a tug. It came off easily in his hand, and he handed it to Annaley. She beamed at him, picked upher basket, and put in the fruit.

"So what's your name?" The boy asked.

"Annaley," she replied with a smile. "Yours?"

"Malus," he said.

The two children linked arms, and walked back towards the village.

They grew up very close to one another, and when they came of age they even married.

This is how the mother and father of the Ancient Seven came to know one another.

Chapter 2: Backdrop of the Arapanians.

While all this was happening, something else was going on with the humans.

the Demon King had entered the realm through a portal, and the rift had left a huge magical spot.

And people were drawn there.

The people came and came, and soon there was a population on that island. And through the years, the people changed. The magic in the air changed them, their DNA.

And they weren't human anymore.

They were Arapanians, the peoples of Magyk, the lovers of the Gods, the lords of Europe.

They were advanced for their time, too.

And soon came the day.... that they all had magic powers. And when this day dawned, it was the same time that the Demon King was banished from the Demon Council.

And then, a child was born. The girl's name was Annaley Rosalie. And her power was very special. She could speak to the gods.

Chapter 1: The Demon Side

Demons and gods made their difference when they staked their claim on the earth. Demons were on earth, and gods werenin the stars. The demons had a council of leaders, that consisted of twelve. One of those was the demon king himself.

He begins to impose on the council a new idea. One that the humans they helped, weren't perfect and worth it. And this is hoe the world fell apart.

"why do we Fight for them?" he called forth to the council. "we are their lords. We are higher beings! And yet, we we sounding all our time helping them. They are lower than us! They should serve US, not the other way around! They are little better than cattle, they should be our slaves." His fist banged against the council table, and the walls of the cavern the council was in shook.

"Shhhh," Carron whispered calmly. "You know that is not true. Take a seat."

"I will not!" He roared. "And if you will not stand by me then I stand with my followers, and I will MAKE you stand by me!"

"Sir," Fayare called out to the court, voice clear as a bell. "It isn't like that, and we are here to aid them. You forget this?"

"They are lower beings!"

"It is their time," she responded coldly. "Accept that, or you can no longer partake in this council."

"YOU accept that they are lower beings, I am your king!" he bellowed.

"As the council we overrule your word. Now sit," she said icily.

"Admit they are lower beings!" he persisted.

Fayare places her head in her hands. She was growing tired of this argument, being as it had lasted hundreds of years.

"SILENCE!" she yelled. "As a council we view you to be a threat to the human race and being as it is our duty to protect them, you are no longer part of this council. You are exiled. We have the documents... they are final. Begone with you."

Fury masked all of the Demon King's face. But he could not stay, and so he turned and with a whoosh of his cloak, vanished from the cavern.

Prologue

Let's set something straight, right here, right now. I'm going to tell this, as if I were telling a story. The full works, dialogue, actions, twitches, everything to do with everything. Now no, I am NOT claiming to know every word ever spoken by these people, especially considering half of this didn't happen in english. So if you don't like the dialogue, well, deal with it. So here is how everything began.....

The world since the beginning, has been ruled by different beings. Powerful and weak, wise and idiotic. Since the beginning of time, the world has been a world of magic and wonder and power. Since the beginning, the truth lay between the lines where only those who were Awakened to it, could see it. And this is the story of how the world we see now, came to be.

Billions of years ago, the world went around the sun. It was a smouldering chunk of rock. Eventually, there came water, and air. The four dominant elements were created. Life came to the world, bringing with it the enchantments of dreams, spirits, and magic. Huge lizards came and went. Apes grew tall and straight and hairless, and became men.

The progress of the world was watched throughout space. Mostly, by higher beings that humans learned to call the Gods. And when the people began to look like they did, they took it upon themselves to watch over their growth and aid them on their way.

This is how humans - and demons - came to the world we know. Thousands of years ago, they set their status as their protectors and the ones to be worshipped and/or feared. The humani grew with them by their side, and learned from them.

Their forms began to change by the touch of magic. Some of them had fractured souls, that were mixed with those of the other living beings. Mostly, of wolves. Their bodies mutated just the smallest amount, and Therian clans began to arise. Shapeshifters.

And right about there, everything started to fall apart.

So

Pretty much, it's been requested that I tell the story of the Demon King from the beginning with all the bits and pieces. this is where I'll do that.
